Retha's Song- A Rhapsody of the Soul

Writing Retha's Song was directed from the Divine Realm.  My son nearly died of Crohn's disease in 1990 and one month later I was diagnosed with Bi-Polar I disorder.  If you know anything about these two illnesses, you know how horrific the experiences can be.   I lived with Bi-Polar for 10 years asking God, "Why?"  Finally, I received the answer, "Go now and be an ambassador for the mentally ill and those lost and forsaken with disease just as Jesus did with the lepers."  Retha's Song is my memoir of the painfully honest journey with Bi-Polar as well as the phenomenal, supernatural, healing and spiritual transformation that occurred in my life and can happen in your life as well.   UMS is the post-product of my healing.  UMS has blessed me beyond my comprehension.  This healing experience has given me hope and courage,  and this is my gift I impart to you! 

All of us have chosen to be here at this most pivotal time in history. The most important thing we are called to do is heal our brokenness and help others heal from their brokenness as well as loving one another in the process.  We need to connect to Divinity with whatever means we may choose so this healing can occur.  I chose psychiatry, chi, psychic and channeling energy, bio-energetic synchronization technique, visualization, Christianity, The Bible, Kabbalah, reading many books on Angels, proper sleep, exercise and a balanced diet.  Using pieces from each of these areas has led me to be in remission from Bi-Polar disorder for 15 years - no symptoms, no episodes, which is hardly unheard of.  I realized I had to find myself worthy and to truly, deep down love myself first and foremost.  Our bodies were meant to heal themselves naturally.  Just Ask, Believe, Act and Receive. Acting from those words you become enmeshed in a miracle, mystical zone.  We're living in a time where everything is possible!! Sending my love and peace.

Imaginative Children's Book from UMS Student Rainey Marie Highley

UMS student and metaphysical author Rainey Marie Highley recently released a new children's book series. The Long Lost Tale of the Dragon and the Whale is the first book in the series and takes readers on a mystical journey back to the earliest days of Planet Earth. The story follows a whale named "O" and a dragon called "M" on an adventure through the universe where they discover ancient Earth-unexplored, uninhabited, and covered entirely in water. Together, the dragon and the whale learn the power of co-creation as they play with light, water, and sound. The book shares an enlightening message about cooperation and compassion written for star children of all ages.  Included here is an excerpt from the book:

Love and Light

A Poem by UMS Student Julie Loukus

If it is all about yin and yang and balance and flow,

then, when peace is made more bombs will blow.

If it is all about being politically correct,

then both of New York's Twin Towers would still be erect.

If it is all about everything being equally black and white,

then our laws wouldn't be laced with only shades of ambiguous gray

and would actually support what is right!

If the sky was only blue and the grass always green,

then people would have no reason to be so mean.

So for those of you who only follow the universal flow,

then you could find yourself stuck into one cycle of life

with nowhere else to go.

If you don't fight the current and try to understand the essence of your soul,

then you may find yourself losing focus and living out robotic days with no spiritual goal.

And when your gut feeling reminds you that there is more to life,

Explore where this notion comes from and then what it means into afterlife.

Now your head is spinning and yoga instructor preaches following Buddha,

while others starve your brain of oxygen like a Barracuda.

Some people feel there is no hope, and go through the motions of day,

remember to eat right, hug their loved ones and never once pausing to pray.

And as time goes on, the darkness offers no hope

so many will still forget God and choose to follow their horoscope.

The drumming in your head is pounding and your breath is weak

Once strong, now nothing but weak.

The days seem so long and air so dry,

and now nothing is left in your heart to even be able to cry.

You look to the left and then the right,

all you do is feel cornered, and prepare to fight.

You feel trapped like a bird in a rusty cage,

and the more you contemplate your option, the more you fill with rage.

Still, forgetting to seek God's grace in light and love,

you now turn towards ways to face hell... still ignoring the power and support from heaven above.

There is a knock at your door and so you cock your loaded gun

there, in your face, is a middle eastern nun.

She tells you she is Persian and asking people to worship the moon

and if you ignore her warning, days before your death will be only filled with gloom.

Now your brain is in overdrive and you have no where to turn

you contemplate the temperature of hell and how fast you'll burn.

All these options to choose from and no one is right,

Then, you see a white dove fly... leading your eyes towards the light.

Your eyes drop salt water and your heart begins to pound,

 and in that moment, the earth was beautiful and not just a battleground.

You felt this hint of hope and dash of joy

and in that moment you knew there was so much left in life to enjoy.

You closed that door and dropped to your knees

and bowed your head contemplating how you could secure these positive guarantees.

And then your heart warmed and instead of worrying about darkness, you looked towards the light,

This simple prayer offered more to your days than preparing to fight.

Light and love filled your veins and you felt so surreal,

You prayed out for the first time for God to reveal.

Your hands begin to tingle and heat with perfection.

You intuitively placed them together and felt your solar plexus radiate like the sun.

All these past years of following flow was missing one thing,

the belief in God's love and light was how to bring upswing.

God's people may need love, balance, and yoga hereof,

and when we honor ourselves and each other... we honor God's light and love...

There is MORE than balance here on earth.

God's light and love radiates throughout and beyond this entire UNIVERSE!

New Spiritual Counseling Course at UMS

Making Room for the Divine Within

The need to create sacred space arises from a deeply seeded desire to align oneself with the universal flow. We seek to transcend the perceived limitations of the three-dimensional world of timelines, to-do-lists, responsibilities, and stress, in order to embrace the effortless and boundless possibilities that we can tap into at any moment. From this place, we can surrender the monkey mind and find an inner stillness where the whispers of the heart yearn to be heard, if we will just listen. We can move through our days more gracefully, with a sense purpose and an inner knowing that we are complete just as we are.

The surest route to cultivating this sacred space is through breath, intention, and practice. As we open the pathways in our bodies with breath, our cells rejoice in oxygenated bliss and inner transformation is underway. With intention, we invite in the qualities of energy that nourish us and serve our highest purpose in this moment. Rooted in stillness, we can follow our intuition to realize the outer manifestations of sacred space that our hearts desire.

If you feel called, experiment with creating an altar to physically embody the sacred space that you wish to grow within yourself. Know that you already have everything that you need at your fingertips. Look to nature for inspiration, as flowers, herbs, stones, and feathers are all around, reflecting the sacred geometry and life force that flows through us all. Let go of judgment and trust in the perfect timing and unfolding of each moment. Whether you choose to make a permanent altar space in your home or to create a mandala out in nature, the important thing is the joy and presence you hold in your heart.

There are infinite ways to create sacred space in our lives. Regardless of what we are physically doing or the amount of square footage we are able to access, we can choose to live with reverence. As we honor the ways our outer world reflects our inner sanctuary, we begin to weave tapestries of sacred space that support and empower us as we navigate personal and collective transformation.

SPIDERCAT: Warlock of the Wands

"Mother nature will take care of you if you listen to her. I think I just started listening." 

It is a given, working at University of Metaphysical Sciences, that we often become attached to our students as we support them in experiencing the magical unfolding of our unique program. Recently one of our students introduced us to a new spiritual healing tool he has been perfecting.

We are very excited to share with you these crystal power wands created by UMS student "SPIDERCAT". Last week we received a package containing wands for us to use at the office, and in our own lives, to test the potency for ourselves. We felt immediately impressed with the wands, and will share more about our personal experiences with these tools in next month's newsletter.

SPIDERCAT started making copper wire wands almost thirty years ago after leaving the Marine Corps. Although the wands were beautiful, he felt they lacked power, and let the idea dwindle, though it never completely left his psyche. Several decades later, as he was taking the UMS course, Crystals and Gemstones, he had an idea for improving upon his original design which has brought new found success.

When creating a wand, SPIDERCAT takes great care in the research phase, making sure that each wand contains the most beneficial combination of crystals and stones for the specific Emotional, Spiritual, and Physical needs of the recipient. He calls them ESP wands to emphasize the importance of these three aspects in the effectiveness of this healing tool.

Once his research is complete, he fills the Corning grade glass tube with a distinct set of specific gems and stones. After the stones are aligned, he uses a silver or gold plated wire to run through the stones, then along the exterior of the tube, as a transmitter for the energies of the stones to the wand's owner. One end of the wand is secured by a quartz crystal marble, the other end is fitted with a terminated quartz crystal, used to direct the wand's strong energy. These wands are beautifully crafted and can be infused with intention to align the chakras, or can be personalized for the desired effect. 

Once these adjustments were made to the design, he was impressed with the power of their presence. While experimenting with his own wand personalized for his seizure disorder, the frequency of his seizures decreased from several per week to several per month. He also created wands for his wife as well as several friends and neighbors who all reported significant results, as they experienced improvement with their own chronic symptoms. SPIDERCAT says that he has had equal amounts of positive feedback from those who intentionally use the wands, and those who just carry the wand with them, even with only mild intention. There is no special spell needed, these wands do their work effortlessly.

The history of this "Warlock" is colorful and impactual. He has been a student of metaphysics for over 50 years, and says it was his mother who initially introduced him to the topic. He has been experimenting with stones and other metaphysical aspects ever since. He is married to a wonderful woman who is his supportive partner in his spiritual adventures.  

After a serious accident which changed SPIDERCAT's physical abilities, he feels blessed to have a new project on which to focus his skill of helping others. He and his beloved wife are continuing to build on these concepts, his wife making powerful gem bracelets and him moving into the idea of creating healing brooches out of stone and wire. 

We want to thank our friend SPIDERCAT for allowing us to share these tools, and his creative process, with others. We wish him and his wife all of the love and success they deserve and desire. Thanks for sharing your magic with the world!

Our Founder

University of Metaphysical Sciences was co~created, and birthed into form, by Christine Breese. She felt an undeniable calling to create a school where people could heal, learn to meditate, and discover ever deeper layers of truth about the nature of the self and reality, while earning credentials to help others do the same. She also felt a strong calling to make sure that people could access this affordably. Christine literally started UMS with a small loan from family, and by using a month of grocery money to pay her first few employees to begin to manifest the vision.

In those early days, Christine would work very long hours and often would express not knowing what she was signing up for when she began this project. Christine had reached a point in her journey where she became totally surrendered and dedicated to fulfilling her life purpose. She would express that she was being lead, shown, and often pushed by spirit to create this school, because the world needed it, and she was the one who was not only hearing this call, but the one who had the fortitude, energy, creativity, and just pure stubbornness to make it happen. When people become involved with UMS, whether as students, employees, or in another capacity, there is often synchronicity, a strong sense of alignment, or a certain magnetism that happens for them. Now, through this lens, begin to visualize the energy of UMS. What does it look like? How does it feel? What are the colors, shapes, and general vibration? When you imagine enrolling with UMS, and beginning this type of journey, how does it feel? Take your time, and look closely, as your emotional and intuitive intelligence will steer you in the best direction for you at this time.

Now imagine being a student of UMS, and completing coursework in all these areas of metaphysics, and doing intensive meditation and healing work through this process. Though you may not know what this looks like physically, you can connect with the energy, and see what it looks like in this moment. How does it feel? Does it resonate with you?
